Hi,
This is appearing on the trees in our nursery. It is defiantly sucking the sap out of the trees, targeting the nodes. It is like a white silky substance and when I squish it with my fingers there is some purple liquid, presumably insect blood.
I have tried white oil on it, but that hasn't seemed to have affected it much.
Any ideas and treatment would be much appreciated.
CLOSED: white goo in the nursery
It's possible that these might be soft scale insects and/or their egg masses - see http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_softbugs/images/wpe20.jpg for an example
