Lyre Leaf Sage

Burleson, TX(Zone 8a)

OK, just remember...........there are no stupid questions..................so, here goes. I really like the Lyre Leaf Sage foliage, but the little seed heads they send up are ugly and really detract from the otherwise attractive plant. I would like to use this as a ground cover. This year I had about 6-8 sq feet of it out in #7. I just pinched or snipped them off once in a while as I was going by. No big deal. I'd like to have them up in the house beds next year, but can't keep from thinking I'd just be making more work for myself, since I would want them to stay trimmed up, but I sure wouldn't want to have to do it every day. Question: Is there anything that will retard the blooming.? Oh gosh!! I can hear how dumb that question is as I write it, but I'll leave it just to give all a good laugh.

I really don't think that you can stop a plant from doing what it is meant to do.

Yep, sounds right to me. ;")

I know just what you mean about lyre leaf sage. Like the look except after they bloom. Those ugly brown stalks seem to hang around forever.

I find it invasive too. I pulled most of mine but it's still popping up all over, even in the yard.

Yeah, I don't want to have to look at those staks, but I'm not sure I want to invest myself in snipping them off.
