Lye for Cold Press Soap.

New Caney, TX

Hi from New Caney, TX.

I already make Melt & Pour Soap and Body Butter. I have been wanting to learn how to make cold press soap but the lye scares me to death. I really shouldn't be. My dad owned a cafe in Houston and I use to make his Lye Soap when I was only 5 - 6 yrs old. He would let his fryer cool and drain the oil in a 5 gallon bucket then pour in the lye and I would use a long wooden spoon to stir it until it harden. I didn't know how dangerous it was. Thank goodness.

My husband had eczema and very dry hands to the point they would bleed. I started making M&P soap with local honey and oatmeal. Within 60 days his hands were healed. I want to learn how to make cold press soap because I like the way it lathers better then M&P.

I have been looking online for the best price for sodium hydroxide (lye). I found a lot of places but the shipping is a killer. I wish I located this site before I placed my order. I read where Brookshire Bros carry 100% lye. So needless to say I will be going there tomorrow. Only 3 miles from me and No shipping fee.
