CLOSED: Downy or Hairy or maybe neither?

Aurora, CO(Zone 4a)

I'm breathless with excitement after photographing this woodpecker who just visited our suet feeder. Please help me with an ID?

Wheee. Great shots. I would be excited to get those photos too! I think maybe it is a Downy.

Yep, Downy - short bill, and black spots on the outer white tail feathers.

Myself included. He appears to be only a little larger than the finches (if only he'd pose next to one). The Hairy at 9" would appear much larger than this. He did open his beak to make some sounds, but I couldn't tell by comparing it to the bird sounds on the Cornell site. We can see him from our dining room window, along with the new Chickadees that have shown up since we got a suet cake. We'll be getting more of those soon I imagine. He's come back to pose once more, if these photos help.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks Resin - It always helps to get more confirmation. Isn't this a beautiful bird?
