CLOSED: Please help ID stunned bird

This bird was stunned or something sat on my porch for half a day.

Looks like one of the Nightjar family of birds, maybe a young one. They move around at dusk and during the night and sleep in the daytime, so probably normal behavior. But, wait for one of the experts to chime in. I'm still fairly new at this. Whatever it is, it is cool to see!

Yep one of the nightjars - the tail is slightly forked, and roughly equal in length to the wingtips, which makes it (in the LA area) a Common Nighthawk. The pale tips of the wing feathers mean it is a juvenile, as P_E thought.

The other nightjars that occur in LA (Whip-poor-will and Chuck-will's-widow) differ in having a long tail with a rounded tip, which extends significantly beyond the wing tips.
