Just got a 300mm lens so as to take more blurry photos from further away. Spotted this bird out at Sand Creek, right after seeing a yellow one in my back yard. Can someone help with an ID?
CLOSED: Yellow Bird!!!
I believe this to be a Western Kingbird.
Awesome! Never thought I'd buy a bird guide, but I just got one from the newly popular Wild Birds Unlimited group. Then, I found the Western Kingbird in it - and identified a couple of sparrows that I had thought were finches. Between you guys, the guide, and the longer lens, I'm becoming obsessed. Thank you Chillybean.
LOL Just you wait... I lost count how many bird guides we have. Crossley's is my favorite. Soon a Western guide will be available. ;)
Now I am buying bug guides. It drives the menfolk nuts that mom wants to figure out the bugs' names.
This one is a Colorado bird guide. "The Bird Show" on our local am station is wildly popular, along with a chain of wild bird stores where we've bought several feeders, and joined their little club, and developed a true enmity toward squirrels. And, even though he's not into taking photos, my husband is the one who got me hooked.
