water plants near Arlington

Arlington, TX

I need/want some water plants to help shade my newly redone pond. It's way too hot to have them shipped so does anyone know of a place that sells them near me? I would love some floating plants and really would like to have some illegal water hyacinth but I know that is not likely. What are some options for floating plants that are legal here? Filtering the water would be a big bonus.

How big is your feature ?

Do you plan to have fish ?

Do you want submerged plants or things
on top of or sticking up out of the water ?

Lotus can be started from seed.

It's around 250 gallons and I'm not really wanting lotus. Yes it will have gold fish soon. I'd like floaters to shade and keep algae down.

Good Afternoon!

Creative Water Gardens in Garland usually has some beautiful water plants.....haven't been there in a while, but you can always call and ask...it's right off 635 on Kingsley Road.....

Thanks. I'll check it out.

Dallas, TX

I have no idea if they would have 'em, (legal or otherwise) but since you live in Arlington, I'd call Redentas. I love their Dallas store but have never been to their Arlington store. The Dallas store is tiny but always has some interesting plants. If you're on Facebook, check out their FB page.

You might even call Nicholson Hardie West in Dallas (214.357.4674). They sell a lot of 'fountains' so you'd think they'd sell some water plants. But who knows. That might be too logical.

I just called Jacksons b/c they sell a lot of fountains, etc. However, they don't sell plants to put in 'em. But the gal I talked to said she something at Home Depot that might be what you're looking for. I know. That was kinda vague.

Speaking of Jacksons, on Sat. they start their 4th of July sale. Buy one plant, any size, and get the next one for 4 cents. (They're located near Love Field.)

I know water liliy bulbs can be purchased thru
mail order.

Or you might try a pet store in the aquarium
section.

I know that Marshall Grain in Grapevine has had water plants before. I'm not sure if they have any in right now or not.
