Started these from seeds, first time, looking good so far.
Malva
Those are really neat, I had some of those once.
I hope they reseed!
They reseed like crazy! Zebrinas (aka French Hollyhock) are susceptible to rust, so keep an eye out for that.
Thanks, what do you do for rust?
Provide good air circulation and apply dry horticultural cornmeal to the ground under and around the plants.
It has good air circulation.the hort. cornmeal mew to me
Cornmeal is an anti-fungal and rust is caused by a fungus. They usually get it when the weather turns hot and humid and the ground isn't allowed to dry out.
Thanks, will be looking out for it
Like stephanietx I grew it my first year in DFW ... then it self seed all over ... it was just too much. plus the little rust on the tip of the leaves ... It was gone the next year !
Well we are a little drier here so maybe I will get lucky! Heaven knows the wind never blows below 20 mph!!! LOL
Hi I live in deep east Tx. and have orchid malva. If you want to trade seeds in the fall let me know. I would love a few from your White w/dark centers. Alda
Will do,love to make a trade with you.
I've been trying to grow these. When did you sow the seed and did you direct sow? Thanks
I did back in February,in the greenhouse,in solo cups.transplanted in ground first week of May,then we had a freeze, they looked dead for about week, but bounced back ok,little Miracle grow, and they took off like crazy, going 3 ft tall now, blooming madly.
Thanks! I just tossed mine looks like I'll have to try starting them inside. I just love them but tossing doesn't see to be doing it.
Good luck!
Thanks! Will you let us know if they reseed themselves?
ok
