My friend posted on FB that he rescued a caterpillar drowning in his pool, I advised him that I hope he was careful as caterpillars with spikes/bristles/hair are often venomous. He said I'm worrying him as his leg is numb. Wondered if you knew what kind this was and if it is venomous. Thanks.

It's a caterpillar of a mourning cloak butterfly, and it is not dangerous...
