Can you ID this pasture weed?

Burleson, TX(Zone 8a)

This pasture weed is very prolific this year. We've not been able to mow the pasture because of needing to let the bitter sneezeweed get in full growth mode before we applied a herbicide. These things have gone way wild and crazy. We usually mow the pasture much sooner, so I'm wondering if we've always had them, but the mowing killed them out. We sprayed Wednesday, but are not suppose to mow for another two weeks after application.

I think it is Shepherd's Purse a plant of the mustard family, here is a link

Thanks, Jo. I could be wrong, but I don't think that's it. I'll take another look, though.

Common pepperweed?

It could be Pepperweed, I guess I wasn't too far off, they are both of the mustard family.

As exploring youngsters, we use to nibble the tops. They would bite back. We weren’t too adventurous; best I remember, an adult showed us how to do it.

Ever chew sour dock?

No I haven't, but I have eaten it cooked and it is a lot like spinach.

Used to chew and spit the sheep sour, chuckl

OK, I think it might be the field pepperweed (lepidium campestre). It looks pretty similar to mine, but not so much the other pepperweeds.

Does anyone know if it dies out when mown (mowed, mowd, mowded)? Oh my.
