Help! Something is attacking my 2 peach trees and none of my other fruit trees (as of yet). Any help would be appreciated.

your tree got a fungal disease. no much you can do after it does appear. I did have it and the only thing I did, was to get all the infected leaves before they fell to the ground and I did start the management for the following year.

I took this bit :
The peach leaf curl fungus, Taphrina deformans, can infect peach leaves, flowers, and fruit. Infected leaves pucker, thicken, curl and often turn red. Infected leaves eventually turn yellow and drop from the tree. Severe leaf drop can weaken the plant and reduce fruit quality. Fruit symptoms of raised, wrinkled areas, are often overlooked.

Prevention & Treatment: Control is impossible after the symptoms are visible. Fungicides applied before bud break give good control. Usually one dormant application is sufficient. This application may be mixed with spray oil for scale and mite control. If disease has been severe enough in the past to warrant chemical control, choose one of the following fungicides for use: ferbam, chlorothalonil, copper hydroxide, bordeaux, basic copper sulfate, copper salts of fatty acids or ammoniacal copper. Apply all chemicals according to directions on the label.

Now that I know what to do, all my peaches are healthy and producing well

There is lots of info, do a google.

Samthehavanese,

Cristina is correct. Peach leaf curl is very common. I apply a dormant application of copper just prior to bud break as well as a fall application before leaves drop.

These two applications will prevent the disease as well as several other diseases.

Thank for the replies. I'll see if I can save the trees.

Of course you can, you make sure to maintain the watering needed and they will be ok.

Look up info about growing fruit trees. What is happening to you, for sure it did happen to most of us, it is the sure way to learn.

Its not a disease that will kill your tree. In fact I get some every once in a while on my tree when I don't keep up up with or time well my sprays. Many of the leaves that are curled will fall off mid season and by late season you may not see many symptoms.

Peach Leaf curl shouldn't even affect your crop, much less the tree. I always follow this rule: spray at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Superbowl Sunday with Neem Oil. I have a problem every couple of years... I just spend about 20 minutes on those afternoons picking leaves off... and use it as time for meditating.

Here in the east this disease can be severe. Neem wont cut it here in PA. The attached article explains it very well.

Good source off info. I need to find a copper product to use this fall after the leaves drop.

They sell it at home depot. There are usually more than one brand to buy. Most garden centers also sell the stuff. It has great fungicidal and anti bacterial properties.

Thanks for the info, drobarr.
