Obviously not Henryi! My guess would have been Venosa Violacea but that has five sepals (they are technically sepals, not petals), not four like yours.

Pirl, I stumbled into this pic taken Jun 2013 and notice the same clematis has 5 sepals. As to this year, I keep looking for 5 sepals and none yet--just 4. Wondered what could have caused that.

VV has rounded sepals while yours are pointed and spaced further apart.

It does say it can have 4-6 sepals but the fact that mine are apart rather than overlapping would make me agree w/ you it is not VV.
