hibiscus paramutabilis 'tosca', rose of Sharon hybrid!

West Babylon, NY(Zone 7a)

This is so cool! Its a hybrid of native hibiscus (hibiscus paramutabilis) with hibiscus syriacus. It sets seed to and can pollinate certain rose of Sharon cultivars. Someone should try some hybridizing!

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

Got a pic?

I edited my entry as I thought it over and I was out of line suggesting Terri's Pink is of dubious provenance. It is a pretty, trouble free plant and that is all that matters. Mine doesn't set seed and for the first time this past winter it died to the ground. I've got new growth coming up.

Lohengrin, Tosca, Resi and WALBERTON'SŪ Rose Moon (8" flowers) are all H. Syriacus x H paramutabilis hybrids. White Angel is H. rosa-sinensis (Chinese Hibiscus and tropical) (female) X Diane.

Anyone using these plants in hybridizing? This is Rose Moon.

This is Resi at 6" which is smaller that usual because it is late in the season.
