Tree ID?

This is a volunteer from a neighbor's garden. Anyone know what it is?
It has a single trunk and is about 4 feet tall.
(She contributed it to our Garden Club plant sale, and I'd like to id it).

You might try posting this on the ID forum, those folks are real sleuths and can ID most anything.

The general concensus on the Plant ID forum is wild persimmon, so I'm going with that!

How cool. You can promote it as a tree with edible fruits (albeit a bit tart, LOL.)
