I am such an idiot!

Last night I was looking at one of my beds and I noticed a lot of chives had gotten into it. Oh well. I pried them all out. I came back in the house and was looking at my garden journal and realized that those weren't chives — I had planted 50 allium sphaerocephalon in there last fall. I went back out and replanted all 50 of them. We had a nice rain all night so I think they will live but there goes the beautiful display I was planning for this spring. I think it might be time to hire that good looking college kid to follow me around to remind me where I parked the car and what my phone number is....

rteets,

When you find the good looking college kid let me know. I want his phone number. lol

All kidding aside, we all make gardening blunders. I keep a journal and various gardening blogs here on DG. In 2012 I started a blog I called "what's planted and where". I thought it would be a great way to keep track of my plants. It would have been, if I had continued to add to it. :>O

I also wanted to let you know we're neighbors! I'm in Tobyhanna ... the twillight zone as far as gardening is concerned. Growing wise, you're about 3 weeks ahead of us. I bet your trees are showing green and your daffs and other stuff are blooming. We are gloriously BROWN and UGLY! Ahh, Spring. :>))

I think I may need the college kid full time....

Tobyhanna is right next door! Nice to meet you. We will have to visit each others gardens. I can't believe you are so much behind me! Here is a picture from a few moments ago. It doesn't seem like much but there is definitely some color now. There would have been a lot more if I'd left those 50 allium in the ground.....

We ALL make gardening blunders. I, too, am certain I'll remember what I've planted, and somehow the memories fade. I've solved some of those problems by taking lots and lots of photographs. Pictures help to jog the memory for when flowers have come into bloom. Digital photo files are permanent and just about free.

Well it's still pretty!! I have a clipboard with a graph paper that shows my various beds. I have one paper per bed. Everything that gets planted in the bed gets written on the paper where it's planted. Whenever I change anything, I erase it and pencil in the new plant. It's really worked!
