Does anyone in DFW grow ferns in the ground? My new house has lots of shade and I was wondering how they might do here.

Take a look at this artile, Catz. You've got the fern guru right in your back yard.
Great article, Steadycam. I was surprised at some of the ferns that were included as I had thought they were kinda indoor only. But now I plan to add to my collection.
Catz - I live in Dallas and ferns do great in this area. I've been growing Autumn ferns and Japanese Holly ferns in the ground b/c they are evergreen. My neighbors have an incredible stand of Southern Wood ferns. They die back in the winter but come back with a vengeance every spring. I could name some other ferns but I think that article prob. named a lot more than I could. Good luck!
Thanks y'all :)
Good article, I had no idea.

The Fern Society is having a meeting on Sunday, April 13th from 3 − 5 at North Haven Gardens in Dallas. Among other things, they will discuss ferns that do well in our area and how to care for them. For a shade more info, go to www.nhg.com and click on the calendar (might be called 'Events').
Aww man :-( I'm on call at work and won't be able to go. Thanks for the link though, other events later this month I could attend.
