Horrible photos, so maybe no chance, but I had to try ...
Took these at Galveston, TX on the coast during a fallout yesterday (April 6). Conditions were rainy and overcast. Shot was way too far away with high ISO, so noisy and bad exposure and huge crop ... OK, enough excuses. ^_^
I want to convince myself that this could be a Varied Bunting, but that would not be likely. So, probably a first summer male Blue Grosbeak?

CLOSED: Varied Bunting or Blue Grosbeak
Bill size makes it Blue Grosbeak ;-)

Thanks, Resin. Now that I look more closely at the pictures in Nat Geo and also in Sibley, I do see the difference in the beak size. I didn't really notice it before. I guess they don't call 'em Grosbeaks for nothing. ^_^
Much appreciated.
