Much Needed Rain in DFW!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Woke to thunder and a very nice soaking this morning! What a treat. So far, my rain gauge has collected just shy of 3/4". Yippee!!

Whitesboro, TX

We've been getting a nice, slow, steady rain all morning, too. I can already see the plants getting greener and perkier (of course, the weeds are too!) I can water till I turn blue and it doesn't help them as much as a good inch of real rain. Hurray!!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Looks like we ended up with about 1" of the glorious wet stuff! We also harvested about 200 gallons of water for our garden.

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

I don't know how much we got. Too much for me to work in the muddy garden. We needed it so I'm thrilled. Just wish the morning temps were a little warmer.

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

3/4" of the precious water in Rowlett. We desperately need more.

I could use a rain like the one we had about once a week. LOL

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

More rain coming today, this time severe weather is possible. :(

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

More rain!! My rain gauge reads just over 2" and it's still raining lightly. Woohoo!!

Dallas, TX

I kinda thought the forecast of 90% chance of severe thunderstorms was probably going to mean it would rain. Kept waiting and waiting and finally! But here in the smack dab middle of Dallas, we had some thunder but would not say we had severe thunderstorms. Mostly been the slow, steady kinda rain and that's the best. Don't have a rain gauge (no, that's wrong - just don't know where I put it) but my neighbor does so will check with him later. Supposed to be more rain Tuesday and maybe even Wed. Plus cooler temps. Wee doggies!

It's storming like crazy here....had lighten strike really close on my property I saw it hit guess I'll see exactly where tomorrow.

Dallas, TX

Well, maybe I spoke too soon. We did get some lightning a few hours ago but nothing too severe. Right now the rain has stopped and all is quiet at the tx_flower_child home front.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

We got 1.5 inches very lucky, no damage.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm so very thankful for this rain. According to the weather people, this rain should help the area lakes.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Loved the abundant rain we got. We didn't flood like I was scared we would, not the house but my back 40 down hill area. It would pour, then slack up then pour again. Plus the duck pond was empty and took a lot of excess.
Looks like Sunday will be a nice day for RU.

Fulshear, TX(Zone 9b)

We got about 4 inches west of Houston. Yay!

(Joy) Hempstead, TX(Zone 8b)

I'm in KY but just got a notice from FarmLogs that our farm got 2.74" yesterday. Dave said everything was great, the ponds are refilled and the grass rejuvenated.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Yep, as soon as it begins drying out we will no doubt hear those lawn mowers at work!

(Joy) Hempstead, TX(Zone 8b)

I haven't had to mow pastures in about seven years. Hope the brush hog still works. We lost our riding mower several years ago to age and haven't replaced it yet. I have a little self propelled that I use near the house. Looks like I might need to suck it up and buy another one.

Rancho Santa Rita, TX(Zone 8a)

I love T-storms, and was parked in front of
a window on Monday when that frog-strangler hit.

It was MAGNIFICENT !!!!

This morning is sunny & chilly, and its already mid-May.

Hoping for a cool, wet summer.

Prediction for RU is 30 MPH WINDS.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes those winds are always a problem, but looks like it will be dry to partly cloudy. We will just have to support the plants and hold on to our plates and napkins at lunch! LOL!

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

The storm we had last Thursday knocked down my Prickly Lime Ash tree. :-( The tree was full of blooms and, I guess, was top heavy enough to not be able to withstand the tornado-force winds. The good news is that it always sends up new shoots, so I can let it regrow from there. I got 2-1/2" from that storm, 1-1/2" on Monday and another 1/2" overnight last night. Yahooo!

We only got about a half inch or so. Crud.

Dallas, TX

30 MPH winds on Sunday? Hope the forecast is inaccurate as usual.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Sorry about the Hercules Club Carla, I remember you talking about it before. On the good side, you will have a shorter tree for a while and can see the GST butterflies lay eggs and the larval action.

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

You're right, Sheila. I am going to think glass-half full on this one. :-)
