What gives us the clue the bird is a juvenile?
Well, realistically, they're still nestlings, not even juvenile yet ;-)
The wing and tail feathers are still only half-grown, so they can't fly yet. When they are old enough to fly, that's when they are considered to be juveniles, until they have their post-juvenile moult. Juveniles can be told from adults by their duller head pattern.
