OK, here's what happened. I planted a whole bed in native flowers last year (things I got from you guys). It's out away from the house and the house beds. However, I'm weeding today, and I'm running into some stuff that looks maybe the same as some things in that native bed. Hmmmmm. I really just can't tell.
I looked at my "key" for #7 (the native bed), and I just can't tell. The little boogers aren't in the same place that they were originally planted. Color me "DUH," but please--are these weeds or flowers?
By looking at my diagram of where I put everything, the closest things would be Lyre Leaf Sage, Cone Flower or Frostweed. HELP!!
Some look really similiar, except for maybe one being more flat to the ground than the other. Heck these may all be the same thing.
Need ID help, please
It looks like Gillardia to me.
Oh my, never heard of that. What is it?
A google.com search will provide hundreds of sites that show this plant, such as this one:
http://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=GAPU
None of those look fuzzy enough or the right color leaves to be Gaillardia (Blanket flower) to me.
The second one looks like coneflower to me. No clue about the other two.
O.K. the first one looks like Ironweed, the second one is not Coneflower but don't know what it is.
The third one is Mexican Primrose. Just let the second one grow and we will find out.
Josephine, was the primrose at one time called Oenothera speciosa or is the berlandieri slightly different?
Yes it is Oenothera speciosa http://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=OESP2
This is the Calylophus berlandieri http://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=CABE6
They are different although similar.
I bumped Sybram's post about what she planted in that bed. I was trying to repost and did not know how but it says something like Bed 7 before and after.
