If you have grown these, I could use your help. Do's and Don'ts appreciated. I have had two small plants on my desk at work for 6 months. They appear to be healthy, but they seem to be slow growers. What soil, water, light, feeding, etc do they need to be ...SPECTACULAR ??
Any advice on ideal growing conditions would be appreciated. Thanks! =)
Success with Philodendron warscewiczii and P. stenolobum?
I grow a narrow and wide form of stenolobum but I've not experienced having any problems with it being a slow grower and I don't treat them any differently than any other Philo's that I grow. I water them once a week in the winter months and more often when their outside for the Spring and Summer. They grow best in bright light (indoors) or outside they can handle morning sun but need some shade during the hot summer days. I use osmocote and just use miracle grow potting soil with extra added perlite. If yours are still pretty small they may just need some more time before they start growing better for you.
So glad to hear from someone who is growing them! Yes, they are small. I just want to give them a good start. Sounds like I just need to be patient until they get a more mature root system under them. Thanks again!
My boyfriend has a huge Philodendron he got back in 1998. He says he waters is every two weeks and fertilizes maybe 2 times a year. It has to be like 7 ft tall at this point. We currently have it growing indoors near a window with one spot grow-light on it and it is very happy like this. He usually takes it out for the summer but soon I think it will be too big for that! lol!
