A lot of seeds for trading

Büllingen, Belgium(Zone 6b)

Some design flaws have yet to be resolved, but all my seeds are online again! I love to swap / exchange seeds, but you can also buy my seeds. www.seedsite.eu

Jonna,

It's great to see your site back up, and I love the article on sealed-vermiculite-wintersowing.

Is that gorgeous photo your own garden?

Dear Jonna:

That is a very interesting article on your website. I think I will experiment with vermiculite as you have illustrated in the "sowing" link. Thanks again.

Hello Joanna - Your vermiculite sowing idea sounds great. I haven't been doing much sowing for exactly the reasons you listed out. I am excited to try this method out. I am assuming I should be able to buy vermiculite on Amazon? Any other websites you would recommend?

Thanks
Vishal

Well, I'm not sure Amazon is the right place to buy vermiculite. I live in Belgium, so it's hard for me to tell you were you can buy it in the USA.
Usually you can buy it at a place where you can buy building materials, because it's mainly used as insulation. It shouldn't cost more than US$ 30 for 100 liters. Sometimes you can buy it at nurseries, but than it's much more expensive.
100 liters might be a huge amount for you, but when you store it dry, you can keep it forever. It's really much cheaper than buying soil. Depending on how big your sowing containers will be, you can fill between 250 and 400 containers with 100 liters of vermiculite.
Besides that the 100 liter bag of vermiculite weights less than an average bag of soil.

100 liters = 26 gallons = 3.5 cubic feet

Try Googling "vermiculite insulation". Remember that no vermiculite with asbestos has been sold for many years.

I think that Jonna is talkking about very coarse vermiculite, if you were to buy it at a nursery. Vermiculite sold for home insulation would normally be very coarse.

Menards will sell vermiculite insulation online. I saw about $15 for 3 cubic feet (22.5 gallons or 85 liters). But I don't know how much they charge for shipping

Lowes sells a 3.5 cubic foot bag, but I don't see the price:
