Is it too late to put down my pre-emergent? I thought February was the month, I'm prepping the beds for planting, and I see WEEDS already up (and some natives). I use the corn meal gluten, and it's fine as flour, so you have to have a non windy day to apply it, for sure. In the morning, early, I'm suppose to have just 3 mph wind, so that was my plan. Just wondering if I'm too late.
Also, do I need to rake back the mulch, or just spread it on top of the mulch and then water it in?
ALSO, I have such a hard time getting it down (sometimes I use my flour sifter to spread it), I wondered if mixing it with sand would help. What do you think?
pre-emergent
Mixing it would definitely help! I'm not sure if it's too late to apply, but if it's too warm, it acts as a fertilizer rather than the pre-emergent.
Thanks, Stephanie. I decided to call Lone Star in Cleburne, and they said it's getting close to being too late. Probably another two weeks or so, but get it out this week if possible. Said when ground gets 65* things start germinating.
