Amorphophallus konjac (Voodoo lily) need care help

West Babylon, NY(Zone 7a)

It says its hardy to zone 6, i'm 7a.

Reading it stated it gets about 6 foot tall and when Fall hits to bring it inside and store in basement where its cool and dry.

I'm confused over care, tubers gets huge, and claim roots grow from above so tuber must be buried in soil deep down (im growing in a pot). What kind of soil and care do they need outside from spring to fall in zone 7a? how big of a pot will I need? Are they like elephant ear you bring in during fall, wait till leaves die and brown then snip off leaving bare tuber? When do they flower? Do they grow year after year?

I saw these sold and they are expensive, but I want to grow it however I need to know care of them so it stays alive for years and years.

They need a free draining mix. I use miracle grow and a lot of extra perlite. I would NOT keep them outside in winter in your zone. Do you have a corm right now?

They are not expensive actually. about $5 a pound. Try here:

Get a pot about twice to 3 times bigger than the corm. Plant it about 5 inches deep.

There is PLENTY of info on the on the net, Google Amorphaphallus Konjac.

REALLY fun plant and when it blooms it stinks for about 3 days like dead bodies.

I'm not sure if I take it inside in Fall when leaves die back, and is it ok to store in my basement wrapped in newspaper? Is it a repeat bloomer or blooms once?

As long as it doesn't freeze in your basement. No need to wrap. I remove my corms from the soil once the leaf stalk flops pver in the fall. It will bloom once a year once about the size of a softball.

Thanks you've been a big help!
