Pink Dandelion (taraxacum pseudoroseum) and variegated D

West Babylon, NY(Zone 7a)

Past 3 years my only source for pink dandelion seeds failed me by sending ordinary yellow dandelions I've wasted over $30.00!
I need seeds from someone who has grown taraxacum pseudoroseum and actually gotten pink dandelions! I grow so many dandelion seeds so if anyone has any to spare I would appreciate it!

Also looking for variegated dandelion cultivar. 'White flash"

Did you order them from Plant World Seeds? I had some years ago and they just didn't really "take" out in my garden. I got like one plant that actually flowered and went to seed. And boy I babied them too, I thought they were going to be so cool. Since then they have disappeared. I had such hopes for them being invasive, LOL.

As you know Keith, I've received the wrong dandelion seeds before, twice apparently, so I'm not thrilled about spending any money on them, BUT I do have a packet of Taraxacum pseudoroseum from Dee that I am going to sow soon. I would be happy to send you half.

Yes! Mine grew just fine I got about 30 full sized plants with tremendous amount of seeds, trouble is the dandelions were all plain yellow, I believe they are sending the wrong seed cheating customers. The only seed I got was the purple leaves dandelion that grew true but they are not as hardy in my climate like the pink ones would be.

So long as they were proven to be pink, sure! Thank You!

Wow, pink dandelions! (Any extras?) I am probably too late, as I never though to ask for them before, since I did not even know they existed.

They would probably grow like a weed here...then I would send you more seeds so no one would ever be short of them. Well...just an idea! LOL!! ^_^

I wish they would have done better in my garden. The first year the deer ate all but one flower. The second year I moved the ones I germinated from that flowers seeds and put them in an area the deer couldn't get to and they just didn't do much at all. I have regular dandelions in the yard but for some reason these just didn't take. Who knows, maybe they'll show back up this year. I thought they were a really cool idea, I bought the seeds from Plant World Seeds online.

Sorry evelyn, I've sown what I had left, but if I am successful I will put some in fall's Hog Wild Swap.

Thanks, Dee!

Just what I need...more seeds...and dandelions at that !! When my husband picks up the mail and sees that I have purchased more seeds....oh, maybe I had better not, though it is really tempting....

I have yet to sow all the seeds that I have. I am SUCH A PIGGY, when it comes to seeds!

Tell me about being a seed pig. I really don't like to keep seeds more than two years but I have participated in way TOO many seed trades this year. I have been germinating since November and I still have soo many seeds. I don't think I have enough watered area to grow all these! I spent two hours last night classifying them as to perennials, annuals, front yard, back yard, etc.. I did find a pot full of pink dandelions out under another plant yesterday (while cleaning up an area to seed). I moved them out into the sun so maybe I'll get some flowers and seeds by summer. I'll let you all know when flower out.

Kathy ~ You are very welcome! I have begun my seed-sowing, both indoors and outdoors.

Soon, we will be so busy, no time for computers, just a lot of work. Seed-sowing, digging new beds, mixing compost, sifting compost, planting, re-arranging beds, raking away soggy leaves and pine needles, aching backs and knees...etc. LOL ^_^

and hands too...

Oh but it's so worthwhile!

Kathy - the "purple" ones are actually salsify and they get tall and are really invasive. But the seed heads are sooo cool. I had them in my yard for a few years and then erradicated them. I may try them again just because I love the giant puff ball seed heads, just like a giant dandelion. They wouldn't be the worst thing to invade my neighborhood.

I had a dandelion look alike grow with white flowers instead of usual purple, highly invasive and spread in my yard in one growing season, however aphids infest it and keep it from growing too big. Looked like false dandelion

I've never seen a white one either...Keith, you seem to get all the anomalies!

I meant to say white instead of yellow, it is a naturally occurring mutation and sometimes randomly pops up among normal colored ones, I happen to get it. If it regrows I can get plenty of seeds it producers hundreds from a single plant!

Thanks for the offer, but I can't intentionally wage a war with highly invasives...I have to regretfully decline.

If my garden started invading my DH's turf, my gardens would get shut down I'm guessing (I don't think I'll test the theory).
