Not sure if this is a yellow rumped warbler. Looking for confirmation or correction.

Yep - used to be Yellow-rumped Warbler, but now split into Myrtle Warbler (mainly eastern) and Audubon's Warbler (western).

It still is a Yellow-rumped Warbler in North America, not "used to be". Myrtle is the sub-species. Your instincts were correct.
