I am asking this question for my neighbor. She has a mandarin tree in a large pot that needs to go into the ground We are in the Austin area and our backyards have 6' wood privacy fences. Aesthetically she would like to place it in the southwest corner of her backyard. It would get quite a bit of shade from the fence and wind from the north. If she placed it in the northwest corner it would get more sun and be protected from the north by the fence. She will go either way. If any of you have grown mandarins, would you please give your opinion? Thanks.
Mandarin Tree Question
Mandarins, like all citrus, like full sun, so the northwest corner would be better, although not ideal.
NW corner
