These birds were in the park today by my house near Houston, Texas. There were about 8 or 10 of them in a group and they were feeding on the ground just like Juncos, but they don't look like the Juncos I've seen in the past. They all had what looks like a little green patch on their shoulders. Their bills look more like grosbeak bills.
ID will be much appreciated.

Bronze Mannikin Lonchura cucullata - escapes from captivity (originally from tropical Africa). Sorry, can't count them on your yearlist, unless it is listed as an established feral population ;-)

Whoa. Never heard of these birds. Oh well, I will take them off of my list, but they were cool to see anyway.
