I photographed this bird 9 DEC 2013 at Fort Jefferson in the Dry Tortugas,
(Triangular black beak; black head; orange back and wings; red rump; white chest band
and stomach; with black lower tummy connecting legs. About 4")
but cannot find it in any FL, North American, or Caribbean reference materials.
Even Audubon staffer in Key West was not familiar with it. Looks like some
sort of Grossbeak to me, but I'm fairly new to birding. Can anyone help?
CLOSED: Need help with bird ID
Tricoloured Munia Lonchura malacca. A popular cagebird, originally from India. Could be a local escape, but also feral populations on some Caribbean islands.

Thanks very much for that ID and background.
Happy Holidays.
