The link above I received from my Mother Earth email. I've been looking at the map and clicking on the marks, there are some, well lets face it for me, lots of seed companies that I never knew existed.

so I thought I would post for others that might not have this.

Merry Christmas folks

Thanks Jan, there are some I never knew existed too...imagine that!

You have a Merry Christmas too, all the best to you and yours.

Great link, Jan, thanks!

I saw this link over on ATP - a listing of many local "seed libraries".

Like a lending library for books, the idea is that they lend you some seeds, and you multiply them locally, and return as much or more of that seed, later.

This way, they keep becoming better adapted to that locality.

Oh cool Rick, what a great idea!

Corey ~ Thank you. That is the best new idea brought forth in this discussion, though the idea of a seed library is probably not new...but new to me!! I like it! ^_^

Rich thanks so much for the link, and I really like that idea.

Thanks you all kindly! I went there and grabbed some local links ... then forgot to follow through.

The idea of fellow Pacific NorthWET gardeners selecting varieties for ability to tolerate or take advantage of our weather really appeals to me.

Low level action like this may be the best way to fight the monopolization of seed supplies, especially crop seeds.
