A neighbor had a green gooseneck squash out for a fall decoration, and she was going to throw it away, but I'm wondering if they're edible. I haven't been able to find anything on the 'net about it--all the recipes are for a yellow variety.
Does anyone know if they're edible, and if so, do you know any recipes? Here's a link to a photo of some:

Is this edible?
If it is actually a squash, it will be one of the cushaws. Great for pies. If it is a Swan gourd, It will be hollow and inedible although the gourd will be edible when immature. Photo would be helpful.
I included a link at the end of my first post to a photo of some that are exactly like it.
That is a Swan gourd.(Lagenaria siceraria) A hard shell gourd for decoration. Inedible at mature stage and rarely used as a summer squash altho it is edible at a young age. Not the most palatable tho. Not normally listed with edible gourds.
Thanks so much, I appreciate it! It is a cute decoration, though. Maybe I'll just set it out in the woods for the critters to nip at.
These women live down the street from us in N. GA. and grow lots of swan gourds for their projects. http://www.gourdplace.com/ They are so whimsical (the gourds that is).
