Summer Snowflake bulbs

Fort Worth, TX

I finally lifted the section of Summer Snowflakes I planted in 2002. I have a lot of bulbs.

I would like to get these spread around, one bad year around here and I could lose them all, they are a fairly rare plant. So offer me a trade - the bulbs are large enough to take one of the foldup VCR boxes, so a lot of 5 bulbs per swap? Now is THE time to plant these, they have roots and were just starting to sprout, I lifted before the frost and have them in the garage. They will bloom between February and April in Texas and are pretty winter hardy. Die back in summer, return in late fall. I suspect in England they actually bloom in summer. I don't know if I have a photo of them in bloom, I am always so busy in the spring. DG has an article on them with a photo here:

Would they hold out for the winter in a cool dry place? Can't plant until spring .

I'd be afraid to send a trade now because of the freezing temps .

I agree. Unfortunately my window of playing on the computer tends to correspond to winter weather. I will probably just pot them for the winter, have a greenhouse and plenty of organic potting mix. In early spring they should be approaching forced start and I can ship them then for short trips.

Well dry bulbs in pots of dirt do turn to mush but most of my summer snowflakes made it, and anyone that would like a few make an offer? I'm looking for white clover plants, not seeds, and whatever else is on my want list. have to run.

Gypsi, happy to report that they thrive well here in Z:5 also.
