Datura seed

Burleson, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm cutting back my Datura today (and Cannas and EEs), since the cold snap did a number on them, but there are a lot of seed pods that haven't dried out and opened yet. Can I salvage them, or are they no good?

If they are good size and have started changing color the will probably do o.k. I would save the largest ones.

I know nothing about cannas. As for datura, I'd go ahead and save them. Maybe in a warm spot where the seed pods will eventually dry up. Can't hurt. Might help.

The pods may dry if picked early but unless they're already cracking open, the seeds won't mature. In addition, if you DON'T open the pods (picked early) , the seeds will mildew inside the relatively wet immature pod while you're waiting for the pod to dry and crack open on its own.

Woohoo! Thanks all for the info.
