Coot Conference

They nest up here. Different behavior - they spread out and give each other some space, and spend more time sneaking around, or trying to sneak around - they are still pretty obvious.
Here, they tend to spread out more than the picture shows but... that all changes when someone shows up with a bunch of bread to feed the (real) ducks. Then it's every bird for himself and the coot herd gets thick VERY quickly.
TXS, if there isn't already a collective noun for coots, I think you've just created one – A Conference of Coots.
You piqued my curiosity so I looked it up. Wiki and the American Bird Society both say a group/batch/herd/bunch of coots is called a "Cover".
I think I like "Conference" better as it adds a bit of class to a distinctly non-classy bird.
