Have you ever been madly going about your business and

Mesquite, TX

were suddenly overtaken by a nap? Seemed to be a habit with this little guy...

Oh Yes!! sometimes I have to stop and take a nap when I have been working too hard!!
You know, they can be a real pain, but they sure are cute, although this year they have destroyed all of our pecans in the green stage, I have never seen them do that before, have you?

Cute!

Have seen them going after green pecans before but never to the point where it was an issue getting a decent crop. I suspect that with the extended drought, other sources of squirrel food may be in shorter supply than usual.
Last year was a banner year for my two red oaks' acorn production but this year, the acorns are bigger but far fewer..

As to "cuteness", I always say that I am NOT going to take any more squirrel images when I'm out and about with the camera but invariably, it's hard to watch them going about their daily duties and not snap a few more.

I have never seen them do that before, it is very strange and also a real mess.
We like to watch them too, they have also been cutting the small branches form our trees and chewing the bark of larger ones.
Oh well, they will always be with us, so we might as well enjoy their good qualities.

Squirrels cute? Bah humbug!

Means they are killing your trees- may mean they are short on certain minerals, and does mean they are overpopulated in an area. Try a mineral brick like for the deer, or a molasses lick they can get to. Tree rats.

OMG that is the cutest! I understand why some of you may not like them, but for me, growing up in Hawaii, the novelty of them still hasn't worn off. Same for snow, I love it! What can I say, living on an island deprives you of the nuisances of mainland life! My husband on the other hand sees a squirrel and wishes he could get a clean shot so his mom can make squirrel gravy. How does the saying go.. One man's rat is another man's dinner? Lol :D

I believe that your gravy saying is pretty true at times Becky. LOL!

My eyes see a cute squirrel, and my mind has to immediately remember, "RODENT!!!"

Ha! Just showed this to my hub and 13 y/o and now they are sighting their guns!! Tell the squirrels it's not safe!

Used to do the same although at some point years and years ago, I decided that I'd rather shoot with a camera instead of having to clean the little buggers at the end of a morning's hunt. Had many a plate of tasty squirrel stew cooked over a campfire during those long ago days though...

I have never shot an animal.. I have always been a nature lover and observer, my hubby on the other hand.. What can I say, he is a US Marine! Lol
His grandmother used to leave a spoon of peanut butter on her porch and over a period, managed to get the squirrel (who she named Skippy!!) to eat off he spoon while she held it. The spoon, not the squirrel.
