Amaranthus 'Love Lies Bleeding'

(Zone 9a)

Would anyone be interested in some 'Love Lies Bleeding' seeds?

I will gladly accept a SASE but am looking for Christmas red flowering plants and deep burgundy/wine flowering plants, preferrably easy annuals, if anyone would like to trade. Please, no orangey reds.

Carlton, OR(Zone 8a)

I would love some for postage, I don't have anything that you are looking for in trade.

Is Loves Lies Bleeding an annual? Will it bloom the first year? It would be great for an historic homesite I'm involved with. I say a fabulouse deep burgandy calla lily on the cover of Park Seeds' catalog. It's edged in white. They're a little pricey, at $12.95 for one or two for 11.95 each but worth it. www.parkseed.com

Woodsprite:

Yes, they're considered to be an annual and do bloom the first year from seed. They're extremely easy to germinate and grow and will happily reseed for you every year if you leave some of the flower heads on them.

I've found over the years that the best plants are the ones that are either volunteers or direct seeded. With a bit of pinching, you can actually get a bush size plant, at least in my zone 9 gardens.

Want some seed? I've got plenty.

I would love some LLB seeds. I was just looking at them on a wreath at the church yesterday and they were so pretty in a dried arrangement. These were actually plastic though but it gave me inspiration. The wreath also had green ones. I assumed it was the same variety but just imitating some that had not turned crimson yet. I have trades. Please email me for my list. Blessings!

I would like some if they look so pretty on dried arrangement. A new look in my vase!

I grew LLB from seed last year and had one marvelous plant here in Zone 6b that was awesome!. It grew to 3' tall, and nearly as wide. Perhaps it will re-seed, as I made no effort to save seeds. For any of you that haven't grown this plant... TRY IT! It makes a bold statement in the garden... everyone who saw it here commented on it!
