Possibly a new species -- passing through? The colorful drake is somewhat resembling a Mallard, but the marking and white feather on it seems all wrong for Mallards. At first I spotted two pairs, a male and a female mingling among a group of newly arrived American Coots. Then later I saw a whole flock of maybe a dozen of them from a distance. Your help is appreciated.
Please Help I.D.
Kim in pics 1 & 2 are American Wigeons drake & hen, in pic 3 & 4 I can see the bills of Northern Shovelers(1 drake & few hens). The others I can't see well enough but probably Wigeon hens
Oh wow! Thanks Donna. Now I'm going to do some research on these new birds and learn more about them.
