North Central R.U. Fall 2013 People, Plants, Food, Prizes

What a wonderful and exhausting day it was!!!
The weather was perfect with lovely sunshine, the group friendly and small enough to make it easy to talk to everyone, but big enough to make a good showing.

We got to meet a few new friends in person, Bezzeic (Beverly) and her husband Richard.
TxSkeeter ( Steve), TxFlowerchild ( Joan ) and also a friend from way back that we hadn't seen in a long time Mibus2 (Phyllis ) .

The food was great and plentiful but of course the stars of the show were the plants and let us not forget the prizes which always are a lot of fun.

#1 Here we have Smcokette with her mother Doris arriving, they brought the famous sopapilla cheese cake.

#2 Mibus2 ( Phyllis) with a set of pot hangers, I think that's what they were.
#3 Richard looks cute with lovely pot of mums he won, it was a good thing, his wife Bezziec loves purple.

#1 Bananna18 (Anna) with her pot of Ivy which she wrapped around her head, you look cute Anna.
#2 Frank, Frostweed's husband with a potting tray and gloves.
#3 DFW Dennis won a lovely hanging lantern.

#1TxSkeeter (Steve) with the handsome Agave he won. He is the one who brought the famous fruit salsa.
#2 Brian, my stepson, he won a lovely book, I am already enjoying it.
#3 Beverly with her journal, she is going on a long trip so it will come in handy.

Okay, FRANK!!! I get the message about the long trip!!! LOL

#3 Smockette's Mom Doris, I can't tell what she won, she is so nice, always comes to see us.

#1Madeline Sybil's granddaughter won a book about birds, what a pretty girl she is.
#2 Daniel, Gypsi's friend, he won a hanging flower pot.
#3 Dawn, Anna's friend won a set of knee pads and used them as ear muffs, very funny.

This is the second round of prizes, as you can see we had plenty.
#1 Steve, the great salsa maker.
#2 Joan, she brought dips and veggies and other goodies.
#3 Herman, he brought Sheila and lots of sandwiches.
#4 Beverly, she brought the delicious cookies.

#1 Dennis, he always brings great plants.
#2 Anna, she gave me a big clump of Inland Seaoats which I separated and made 8 gallons, thank you.
#3 Phyllis, from east Texas, it was good to see here after a few years.
#4 Marty, with her garden apron, very nice!!

I did get a prize, it was a blue tomato cage but the picture did not turn out.
My best prize was seeing all of you and sharing a lovely afternoon.

Carrie and her husband were there also but they left early and I didn't get their picture.

Thank you Sheila for making the name tags and the numbers and keeping track of everyone. I couldn't have done this thread and kept the names straight without your help.

Thank you Everyone for you generosity and your friendship, I look forward to seeing you at the Spring swap.

Oh Josephine, don't even mention it! It was just strange--people usually take more pictures of little cute kids than of me. I thought maybe, for once, there would be a picture of me I liked. Doesn't matter!

Great pictures and comments Josephine.I really lucked out with my door prizes this year. Not only one but two! I love the plant and the pot is very special. Hand made by Beverly!

They are right but for the wrong person. Dawn is the one with the "ear muffs" although she is probably content with the name mix up

Carrielamont - I find it's funny what you said about pictures. I was trying hard to avoid being in pictures and seemed to show up in a number of them.

Hahaha, it is strange. I take up so much space and I can't dart around avoiding cameras. So I've learned just to smile and ignore photographers. but events often wind up with no pictures of me online or on websites. Doesn't really matter either way. You can just google me if you want to see what I look like. I definitely used to avoid being the subject of pictures, esp. when my hair wasn't right or I wasn't wearing the right clothes. My husband take pictures of me constantly and I guess I've stopped avoiding it. As long as I am wearing SOME clothes it's all fine.

What a lovely gathering. Wish I could have been there, but had to be in north Dallas for a friend's 70th birthday party. I look forward to seeing everyone at the Spring Roundup.
