I need some help confirming the IDs of a couple of Sparrows I spotted at the weekend at local nature reserve.
The first one I think is a non-breeding adult Swamp Sparrow, and second one a non-breeding adult American Tree Sparrow. I'm pretty confident on both but I wanted a second opinion to be absolutely sure. Thanks in advance as always.
CLOSED: Help with a couple of Sparrows
The first one does look like a Swamp Sparrow to me, but the second one is not an American Tree. It is lacking the dark dot on its breast and the bill is the wrong color. In a Tree Sparrow is it dark on the top bill and yellow on the bottom. Though the eye ring doesn't seem as vivid as a Field Sparrow, this is what it most clearly looks like to me. Maybe it is the angle of the bird?? I hope someone else comes along and can confirm this, or make a correct ID.
Ditto to Chillybean - Swamp and Field.

Thank you both, glad I double checked on here. Not sure why I didn't think of the Field Sparrow to begin with. The eye ring on it is a lot more obvious on a couple of other shots I took.
Thanks again!
