Indian Hawthorn

Dallas, TX

Anyone in Dallas area had any experience, good or bad, growing Indian Hawthorne?

(Carol) Euless, TX(Zone 8a)

I planted about ten of them four years ago. In the first year or two I lost four to a fungus called entomosporium. The leaves developed spots, then turned brown and that was it. I didn't find the cause until it was too late. There is a spray you can use to treat it, so I would recommend having some on hand if you try the hawthornes and use it at the first sign of spots on the leaves. My others are doing fine, have doubled in size to about 2 and a half feet tall and 3 wide. They are in mostly shade, but get some late afternoon sun, and get watered twice a week. They bloom beautifully every spring with no additional attention. I think mine are either "pinkie" or "pink lady".
