I have a couple plants and really like the height of them. Especially the white flower that last for quit a long time in the summer. The leaves are really airy looking. They spread out quit far but not to invasive. Kinda remind me of a goats beard because of the whitespike. They are not very easy to take a photo of but I will try too.
What are your thoughts on "black cohash"?
I bought three from a mail order nursery many years ago. They were so small, as mail order plants usually are, but over the years all three have survived, thrived, and produced seedlings that have all grown and thrived too. It is one of the most maintenance free plants in my garden, and I like that it produces seedlings but is not invasive at all. I also like the height and the way the blooms sway in the breeze. Bonus for me is that the deer leave them alone.
Thanks aspenhill. I appeciate the conversation. I really like them as well for all the same reasons as you. I love the flower spike it sends out. It latst for months. I must have a different strain on also, cause it blossommed way later in the season. I will have to do some research to see if there are any other color flowers? Thanks again. Happy autumn to ya.
I don't seem to do well with Black Cohosh. I think I've always bought it bare root - maybe that is part of my problem.
Happy I am not even sure where I got these. Maybe at a plant swap? But I really like them. They get super tall and really not invasive. They have spread a little bit. But the leaves are so I teresting. I have shad so need something other than just short hostas and stuff. Plus the bonus blossoms are great....
Well, based on your recommendation I'll definitely ferret some out!
Yes thanks for your posts. Nice chatting with you.
