Mine are green and falling off the tree (they did this last year also). They are hard and inside are sort of cream colored. How big are they supposed to be? These are about as large as the first joint of a man's thumb, some are a bit larger, but not big at all. I saw a recipe for jelly that said take 12 guavas... and I wondered if mine were miniscule.
How do you tell when Guavas are ripe?
I've read that they feel soft and are aromatic when ripe.
Since no one else has answered, here goes: When I was a kid, in Ft Lauderdale (S. Florida) we found wild growing guavas in a nearby field (or woods - can't remember). Anyway, as boys will do, we always stopped and ate some. They were about the size of a lemon and we always picked the soft ones to eat. They were sweet and juicy but not wonderful.

Thanks, Paul. mine are nowhere near that big. But, I just went for busted and scraped the inside out and in the process of making jelly, altho it is so cloudy it may be more like preserves,
