Dumb question!

I wonder if someone could tell me the origin or native country of Brugs. I never saw or heard of one til about 3 years ago. Now they just seem to be popping up everywhere. When & and where did they become so popular? I know I could research this but it's , but i still run into people who never heard of them. I know I could research tis myself but it's more fun this way.

Brugmansia are native to South America. Tomatoes are native to South America as well....Hmm,the Culebra is native to the Sibundoy valley in Columbia....Many Brugmansia are found high in the andies mtns, in Ecuador, etc....Highest elevation species to my knowledge is the arborea. Brugmansia are most popular in Europe and are only just now becoming popular in the USA. Colors that are most popular-red, pinks, doubles in any color, oranges....

Eric, thanks so much for your answer. I knew of course they were tropical, just courious where they originated.

I've been told that brugmansia were very popular in England in the Victorian times and are making a big comeback in Europe and America.

I saw a beautiful yellow one in a very large pot this summer in Ashville at the Biltmore house - they called it "Trumpet Tree".

Yes, I have heard the Biltmore has several Brugmansia. Of course, that was a few years ago.
