I've tried to grow blue ginger for several (7-8?) years and I FINALLY got one to bloom! Actually, it's still in bud. ;)
It's about time, and worth it!
Barb
Finally!!!!
Beautiful emerging flower, Barb. Hope it blooms for you every year from now on.
That's going to be a vigorous bloom too! Congrats!
I have ginger fixin to bloom, been fixin to bloom over a week. Don't even know what color it is yet.

Ca't wait to see it
Lavina
How beautiful! Is it fragrant?
Entlie good question looks green with Orange so far. I Can hardly wait
Your Dicorisandra is blooming much earlier than mine ever does. It is often late October or early November before I see flowers. Sadly the blue beauty does not have any fragrance like most of the Hedychiums do.
Entlie no smell but its a beautiful orange and when I looked close I discovered its the ginger I bought at Food Lion LOL
Well bless Food Lion! :)
My husband bought some ginger root at Food Lion last year and I was going to grow it for him. Now I can't remember what happened to it. Oops......
I bought some bare bulbs at a master gardener booth last spring - forgot about them and found them in the bottom of my garden cart, wrapped in newspaper, around July. Planted them in a pot - they are skinny and want to be in the ground but definitely ginger-like!
