Excited whte butterfly ginger just bloomed

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

My ginger is blooming and the smell is exceptional.....now what? Will it bloom more? Do I cut off the bloom, leave it on, will it bloom on that stalk again? Thanks for any help

Starkville, MS(Zone 8a)

If you want the fragrance in the house, cut the stalk approximately 8-10" from the "cone", remove all the large leaves, and keep the cut-end in water. Make the cut diagonal, to expose more stalk to the water. Change the water daily, and trim off about 1/2" of the stalk each time you change the water. This will help keep the flowers growing from the cone.

These cones generally will bloom first from the bottom of the cone, progressing up to the top. They will only bloom once - too bad!
