This year I've had flies all over my cucumber plants (Diva, Diamant). There are a few that look just like houseflies, but most seem to have a gold irridescence on their bodies.
There are usually 3-4 flies per leaf, with over half the leaves hosting flies. When I move a vine to look for cucucmbers, it sends up a cloud of flies who mostly land back on the plants, but a few of them have landed on me (and they bite just like houseflies tend to do).
Not sure why they are on the leaves, they aren't doing any apparent damage. Don't see aphids or anything that might be dropping honeydew. Anybody have any ideas why my cucumbers are fly magnets this year?
Flies on my cucumbers
could be the fly associated with leaf miners...
