Tropic,
All of the collection get unpotted and are placed in rubber maid tubs. It takes 2-3 days and I hire someone to do it. I have plumerias, bananas and succulents as well as all these. It can be very stressful if I do it!!! LOL!!!
She does it every year and she is very organized. All the pots get cleaned and place in my work area at the back of the yard. DH gets upset if they become an eye sore

belle..
sounds like u have a great set up then...:)
i also get help from a couple teen boys in neighbourhood... some of my
nanners get pretty big..not so this yr.. but last yr..and before..some of the holes
dug around nanners have been 6 ft across..just to rock the plants out of the soil..
im sure u know what i mean..
hope u get awhile still in growing season this yr..
here i dont pull everything out until 1st part of oct. depending on weather..
i dont want to get caught with a snow storm..and messing with that..
Tropic,
My bananas are all ornamental. years ago I had fruiting ones but it takes 4 years on my zone for it to fruit plus they have to be dug and so it was not worth it. They also get too big!!!
Right now I have zebrina, pink stem, and 3 other that I can not remember the names.
We will start un potting by end of October.
Lot of work but it is also very relaxing for me!!!

i love gardening..but..i dont want to kill my back off.. :)
i know i'll need to get help by end of sept..to haul my big potted amorph titanums in..
the slowest one..and largest corm ..i have .."so far".. 17#.. is comming into its own..
its just under 9 ft tall.. leaves will spread out in a week..so it'll loose some height..but..
if i dont kill it ..and does ok..it could be 40# when it goes dormant..
oh my aching back..LOL :)
I am out of town now and when i get home I still have to unpot the colcasia alocasia. I have someone coming over to help me.
