Eric, I want to hug your little neck! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I asked in another thread, but just in case you miss it, what are the seeds, do you remember? or are they a mix?

Eric,
This was a very kind and generous thing for you to do. I'm sure that it will be very much appreciated by everyone.

Brugman, your candida double white, is it the same as species???

Thanks so much Eric,

I know I'll be happy with whatever you send. You are a great guy and it is an honor to consider you my friend.

Tig,
Your seeds were a mix of Isabella and Insignis pink and or Frosty pink if memory serves me. All of the recent seeds sent out are Isabella seeds though save one pack of Dr.D seeds sent out.
Arlene,
Yes, the double white I sent out as cuttings are the same as species. I also sent out one or two Double oranges....go figure.
Ahh, one other thing. Don't water these cuttings for a few days after you place them in dry soil. Allow them to dry out for 2-3 days after placing them in water for 2-3 hours. Only water if wilting in other words.Place tips in an inch of pure perlite and cover perlite with a good water retaining mixture. Cuttings are most prone to rot from the center up. Best to keep the bottom cutt part semi dry and until calloused in most cases.

Brugmansia.....thanks a million for your generosity! I know you have put a LOT of work and time into raising thousands of brugs from seeds and then selecting only the 5 or so of the very cream of the crop for us. I am very appreciative....and rest assured, I will think of you every time they bloom:)

By giving so generously of your prize brugs, you have elevated yourself immensely in the minds of all of us!

Regards,
Owen

okay, what is a good water retaining mixture to cover perlite?????

FSH, TX

Peat is excellent in warmer months. I leave the cut ends in pure perlite and simpy cover perlite in peat mixed with 50% perlite on top or any good commercial potting mix like metro mix, Shultes, Miracle grow, etc.

Oblambert-
Don't fool yourself. I sent out my DxS L and R's, but not a single DxS M. DxS M bloomed the earliest, the most, but it is creamy orange to almost white in warmer months and dark orange in colder months. It also has the best tendril length of the bunch. To be honest, I can't pick which one I like the best out of the bunch, but I do love the Dr.D and my other pink type versicolors. I hybridized as I have high hopes that all of my hybrids being first year or sooner repeat bloomers will help those of you wishing to create your own early bloomers from seed in a years time or less. As many of you undoubtedly know, many Brugmansia hybrids from seed take 2-3 years to bloom from seed. Just trying to change a bit of that and still have a beautiful fragrant flower.

just curious, what is the difference between DxS L and
DxS R??

FSH, TX

DxS L is a bit more vigorous, bloomed a few days earlier, more of a mehrfacht type flower-and blooms a bit more heavier than DxS R. DxS R reminds me more of a candida type shape. Colors are very similar. I only gave out the two as I figured some would like to hybridize the two together to perhaps get some longer tendril length or earlier flowers. Personally, I think all of my hybrids crossed to versicolors would obviously yield a significant amount of versicolor type fast growing hybrids, but I would personally cross them to pink or yellow aurea types. None of my versicolors are pure versicolor by the way. They do have a very versicolor seedpod though.

Brugman: Thanks so much, looking forward to the mail this week. Will let you know when they arrive. Hugs.

FSH, TX

Just hope everyone isn't dissapointed. I had to mail everything off before I recieved any payments for postage and I didn't have a copy of what people wanted. I did try to make up for it with some few extra's, but please tell me if anything is not as expected. I am hoping that perhaps everyone will share once they have these rooted and flowering next year. At least post some pictures for us.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Eric, hate to ask here, but that way we all know. Do I have your permission to share pollen with someone that has something different from me, and vice versa. Rather get permission than forgiveness:)

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

sorry, another question. Please define mehrfacht type flower, cause I don't have a clue. I know I've asked all of you to practically write me a book, but I have to have it in writing so I can copy to my notes:) thanks!!

Tig: Go to the Native Habitat site and they list the mehrfacht hybrids. They include charles grimaldi and a few others.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

thanks!!!

FSH, TX

Tig, You never need permission to share pollen from me or any plant recieved from me. I enjoy seeing new plants and improved plants being created.

Gilmer, TX

Eric, I can't believe anyone would be disappointed with the cuttings from you. I'm so excited and want to send you a big TEXAS THANKS. I will treasure them. Pam

ps mail postage last week, if you don't have it by now, please let me know.

(Zone 6a)

Eric, please let me know when you get my check also:)

Owen

P.S.: Do you happen to have pics of the various brugs you have sent out to all of us?

Oblambert,
Believe it or not, I don't have pictures of them in flower. I have posted a picture of Dr.D's seedpod, or rather Arlene did. I can tell you that Dr.D, Kyles Pink, Versicolor pink are all seedlings out of my bed and they are all very much versicolor looking although they are not pure vers. I sent out just a very few Dr.D seeds to one or two members tops. Second frost last night in my area. Thank goodness I pulled the Double Orange out of the ground as it is taller than I am. Just can't wait to cross it with my Culebra this winter.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

asking to put in my notes: what will Culebra cross with? what will Species cross with?

FSH, TX

Aurea will cross with versicolor, suaveolens, insignis, candida and any combination there of. Candida species will cross with any of the above combinations. Merhfacht type hybrids are simply aurea x suaveolens x versicolor crosses. Culebra is simply an aurea or candida type hybrid.
