Chinese Snowball Bush 'Sterile' (Viburnum macrocephalum)

This is not a Viburnum macrocephalum. My money is on Hydrangea paniculata.

I really wish I did know what it was, as I've bounced among images and come up puzzled. It's ten-ft tall now.

Do you know when it bloomed? Usually V.m. 'Sterile' blooms from late March into April, much too early for a Tiger Swallowtail to enjoy it. Also, the leaf doesn't look course enough to be Viburnum macrocephalum.

I have two pictures I've taken that might help. The picture of the bloom with a butterfly is a Hydrangea paniculata taken in August. The other shows a Viburnum macrocephalum 'Sterile' blooming in April. Note how thick and coarsely structured the branches are.

Great info about bloom time. This one here blooms more toward late summer. I'll totally buy into the Hydrangea nomenclature. Thank you!

I'll retract my image post.
