CLOSED: Female Wood Duck?

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

It's perhaps a little bit smaller than a Mallard duck, its head bobs forth and back as it swims. Sorry the pics. aren't in better quality. Thanks in advance.

From that distance I would tend to agree...female Wood Duck. I used to see them frequently when I lived in Northern CA, but haven't seen any in years. Congrats!!

Glad I could be some help.

By-the -way, If you haven't used enature before, it's a great site for more than just birds. You can look up mammals, insects, reptiles and more.

Many thanks NAN. Thank you for the enature website. I'll close out for now, BTW, I spotted the female duck again this evening. That sure made my day!
